Welcome to Regionarkivet

We handle the archives of the Region of Västra Götaland and the City of Gothenburg, Sweden. We also keep archives from popular movements and associations. Regionarkivet consists of the following three units:

Region- och Stadsarkivet Göteborg med Folkrörelsernas Arkiv: Here you’ll find archives concerning healthcare and other regional activities in the district formerly handled by the Bohus county council (the western part of the region), administrations and companies belonging to the City of Gothenburg, and popular movements and associations in the Gothenburg area. This unit is also home to the management of Regionarkivet.

Regionarkivet Vänersborg: This unit keeps documents regarding healthcare and other regional activities in the district formerly managed by the Älvsborg county council (the middle part of the region).

Regionarkivet Mariestad: Also keeps archives concerning healthcare and other regional activities, but in the district formerly handled by the Skaraborg county council (the north-eastern part of the region).
